Abstract The objectives of the research were to find the range of vegetation index value, correlation between vegetation index and canopy cover density and the best vegetation index transformation to identify swamp-peat forest vegetation. The method that used in this research was combination between digital analysis of index vegetation spectral pattern of landsat TM image approach and fieldwork. The result showed that multi spectral classification based on Landsat TM vegetation indices values had capability to produce 11 object classes with interpretation accuracy 98,93 %.
