Description
Summary:Abstract The use of superior cocoa clones that were resistant to main pests and diseases was a cheaper effort and an efficient method for controlling yield loss. One of main cocoa diseases was cocoa pod rot caused by Phytophthora palmivora that resulted in yield loss approximately until 50%. Research was carried out to study: resistance of some cocoa clones to the disease, classify their resistance, and relationship between resistance and its chemical pod component i.e. content of microelements (Cu, Zn, Fe, and Mn), tannin, and sugar in cocoa pod epicarp. Cocoa clones of BAL 209, TSH 858, Pa 7, ICS 13, ICS 60, GC 7, BR 25, Sea 12, and PBC 123 were used in this study. The result showed that the cocoa clones tested had a significant difference in their resistance to P. palmivora. They were classified as follows: Sea 12 (Resistant)
