The experiments were carried out using completely randomized design, with four level of glyphosate concentration, (0, 3.3, 6.6 and 9.9 litre per hectare) and three level of weed density (0, 100 and 400 per square metre). The ammonium sulphate fertilizer equivalent to 100 kg per hectare were given to the experimental area one week before glyphosate application treatment. The ammonium and nitrate availability measurements have been done before glyphosate application and at 7th, 14th and 28th days after. At the same time soil pH, soil respiration rates and population Nitrification bacteria have been measured. The results indicate that the effect of glyphosate on nitrification activity depend on the concentration of glyphosate application and weed density. The effect of glyphosate application on the activity of nitrification decreases when weed density increases. On 14th days after glyphosate application the effect of concentration 3.3 litre per hectare decreased but concentration 6.6 and 9.9 litre per hectare were constant On 28th days after glyphosate application the effect of all levels concentration decreased. Nitrification bacteria obviously overcome the effect ofglyphosate.
