Description
Summary:ABSTRAK The prevalence of lever tumor was considered high. The etiology was complex and still questionable. The objective of the study was to investigate the effect of Allium sativum Linn to tumor lever development by examining preneoplastic lesion after N-Nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA) inisiation. The study was done using 25 Wistar rats given NDMA and or Allium sativum with 25%, 50%, and 100% concentration. The NDMA inisiation was done, on day 0, and Allium sativum extract was given on day 4 to 18 in I mL dosage per day. The tissue was taken on day 120. Histopathological view was analysed descriptively and qualitatively: Number of abnormal cells was analysed statistically using Analysis of Variance continued by Student Newman Keuls for its multiple comparison. Histopathological analysis showed extensive proliferation of ductus biliverus epithel and mythosis, especially in control NDMA group. The proliferation was not existence on negative control group. There were also proliferations in treatment groups with 25%, 50%, and 100% which were not extensive. Statistical analysis showed significant differences on the number of abnormal cells between control NDMA group and treatment groups (p < 0.05). However, there was no significant differences among treatment groups (p < 0.05).
