Description
Summary:ABSTRACT The ability to analyse mixing in an estuary beats on several important problems, such as the dispersion of pollutants, dissipation of theial discharges, the upstream intrusion of salt water, and the rate of sedimentation of channels. The problems can be predicted by mathematical models, based on the equations of continuity, momentum and mass transpor The results repotted herein applyfor one dimensional saline intrusion in estuary. The model is a numerical solution to the coupled continuity, momentum and mass transport equations, and the finite difference methode is applied. The two first equations are solved by Preissmann scheme and the Holly-Preissmann scheme is used to solve the third equation. The results of the computation are the variation of stage, velocity (discharge) and concentration of salt alongthe estuary over a tidal cycle.
