Propylene and LPG were used as feed stocks, because propylene yields coke at relatively low temperature (823 K). LPG was chosen because it is common feedstock for ethylene production. To study the effect of material of construction, three different metals or alloys, stainless steel 304, Incoloy 800 and carbon steel were used The results show that the formation of coke depends on cracking duration, cracking temperature and type of metal used for cracking reactor.
