Welfare and prosperity are expectated by every people. To increase it, people do some efforts by working in full time or in part time. Now, in the society is developed the work relations between company which is giving the job and people in part time. Problems researched were the status of part time craftsmen, the legal form of the work relation and the subject which was agreed in the work relations and also the legal protection for the part time craftsmen in a practice of the work relations especially were seen from their rights and obligations. This research was conducted by using library research and field research. The field research was located in Bantu! Regency which used the purposive non random sampling which chose 5 (five) companies which were doing work relations with the part time craftsmen. The respondents were 20 (twenty) person which were consist of 5 (five) chief ofcompanies, 14 (fourteen) part time craftsmen, and 1 (one) of the chairman ofcraftsmen community which are from Timboel Ceramic Company, Soemadi Leather Handycraft Shop, Temu Terraccota Craft and Souvenir Shop Company, Bedjo Ceramic Company, Restuning Primitive Ceramic Company, Setyo Rukun Leather Craftsmen Community. Data were collected by giving questionnaire and interview and it were analised in qualitative method. The result of this research showed that the status of the part time craftsmen were as company business partner or company co-worker, the legal forms of the work relations were a contracting agree ment which was excluded from Indonesian Civil Act and an authorizing agreement. The subjects were agreed including jobs and also the rights and obligations of the part time craftsmen and the company. The legal protection for the part time craftsmen was still insufficient, because of the recpect fulness of the part time craftsmen's status by the company. Besides, the form of verbal agreement caused the lack of legal certainty and moreover it influenced the insufficient of the legal protection of them
