Summary:ABSTRAK Runway is of important structure of an airport. Its strength and stability will contribute to safe and comfort during take off and landing of an aircraft. This paper is to report a research of the runway strength and stability of Syamsudin Noor Banjarmasin airport. In this research, the strength and stability of the runway were analyzing using PCN (Pavement Classification Number) value. This analysis was to measures feasibility of the runway for serving heavy weight aircraft such as B 767-300ER. The analysis was based on analytical method. It is concerned with field condition of the runway such as pavement deflection, CBR of subgrade, load equivalent of B 767-300ER and the history of pavement from test pit. The deflection value was measured using HWD (Heavy Weight Deflectometer) equipment. The application of ELMOD-4 software gives the value of elasticity modulus for each pavement layer and equivalent thickness (he) which repreient the total thickness of pavement statistically (confidence level 1-a = 98%). Several technical analysis conducted are aircraft movement analysis, aircraft equivalent load analysis compare to the allowable load of critical aircraft (allowable load = Po), required pavement thickness (hreq), field CBR, elasticity modulus of pavement layer and subgrade, equivalent thickness of pavement (he), ACN (aircraft classification 'lambed analysis on critical aircraft and analysis PCN of runway pavement.. � Findings of the study shows that CBR of the subgrade was 8,6% and categórized as medium (category B), ACN of the B 767-300ER is 22-53, MTOW (maximum take off weight) B 767-300ER is 172.819 kg, with tire pressure is 1,31 MPa (Category X), critical aircraft is B 767-300ER with annual departure is 1.142 movement, h req = 70 cm. Findings using analytical method shows that he = 77,8 cm, Po = 204.817 kg, PCN value is PCN 64 F/B/X1T. This research indicated that the runway of Syamsudin Noor-Banjarmasin airport can be used to operate heavyweight aircraft B 767-300 full capacity because PCN runway. value is greater than ACN maximum, Po is greater than MTOW and he is greater than hreq.
