Summary: | This research aims to investigate the effect of TIC, welding's filler on fatigue crack growth rate of Al 6061- T4 transversal butt joint. Alternating current manual TIG welding, has been done in 5 nun's traveling speed, 10 volt, 60 A current, with 1,6 nut diameter, The filler wires used in this research were Al 2319, Al 4043 and Al 5356. Crack propagation tests were carried out on 1.6 nun thick of plate Al 6061�T4 center crack tension (CCT) specimens.
The experimental result shows that crack growth rate on HAZ zone of transversal but joint increases the Paris constant's n from 3.43 to 3,7 or about 9 % am/ C from 6,39 x le to 2,63 x The use of different filler wires have almost no different effect on crack growth rate of HAZ. Paris constant's n of fatigue crack growth rate on weld zone decreases about 6 % to /0 qr The use of Al 2319 mid Al 4043 filler wires decreases n about 10 % and Al 5356 filler wire decreases n about 6 %. Transversal butt joint reduces the tensile strength of Al 6061 � T4 about 36% to 39 %, yield strength about 38% to 39 %. Filler's compositions cause different composition on the weld metal, the use offiller Al 2319 increases the composition of Cu up to 3,34 % on the weld metal. Al 4043 increases composition of Si become 2.27 % and Al 5356 adds Mg content on the weld metal about 0.08 %.
