Summary: | ABSTRAk
A research on the PSTN fault number analysis as a performance indicator of the network management at PT Telkom Distel Yogyakarta has been carried out.
The objectives of this research were to measure the performance of the network management based on the fault number (Q) and the One Day Service (ODS) percentages, to identify the fault locations and the major factors of the jarlokat's fault number, and finally to predict the fault number based on the rainfall levels and the connected lines.
As a case study, data were analyzed statistically. The results show that the values Q were about 3.5 and the ODS were 87% on the average. These meant that the performance of the Distel-Yogyakarta network management was therefore under the WCO's standard. The majority of locations of faults are in the !KR segments and the drop wire segments. For the former items, the human resources, materials, and tools were the dominant factors of faults whereas for the latter the natural disturbances were the main causes of faults. There existed a close and positive correlation (+ 0.87) between the rainfall levels and the jarlokat's Q values. Based on those facts, prediction of the jarlokat's faults number could be done using the ARMA (2,2) model with an average error of 20%. It also can be concluded that the above ground jarlokat gives rise for a tendency of poor performance.
