The rest of the culture was divided into three equal parts and irradiated with U-V light (wave length 254 nm) for 60, 120 and 240 seconds, respectively. Total plate count of each on Nutrient Agar was performed in 24 and 48 hour incubation. The results indicated that U-V light is lethal and probably causes bacterial cell mutation as revealed by the changes of the colour and the internal structure of the colonies.
