Summary: | ABSTRAK
Some of I he soybean varieties arc photosensitive and photoperiodic. In a certain condition their growth become inhibited and start flowering, with the result of yield decrease.
Varieties differ in their photoperiodicity and photosensitivity response. The selection of the right variety for a certain planting period will likely result in higher yield.
In this study four released soybean varieties were successively planted in four different months within a year.
Orba, Taichung and 1340 varieties gave higher yields than 29. All of these varieties gave the highest yield if planted in November (the days during the growth period are relatively long), or February (the days during the growth period become gradually shorter). When planted in May (the days during the growth period are relatively short) they gave the heaviest seeds although the number of pods were less, while planted in November the seeds produced were very light but tilt number of pods were the highest.
Similar experiments should he carried out on all released varieties.
