Rice (Oryza sativa L.) IR. 50 was used as indicator plant in the bioassay for diuron, linuron and arnetryne. The conceal rations of herbicides ranged from 0 to 10 ppm. The effect of herbicide residues on the plant growth was determined by measuring the height and shoot dry Weight of three weeks old seedling.
The height and shoot dry weight decreased with all increase of herbicide concentrations. Shoot dry weight decreased 1/�ore rapidly than the height of seedling.
It could he concluded from this experiment shat rice could he used in bioassay assessments of residues of herbicides tested. Shoot dry weight was more sensitive than the height of seedling as indicated in detecting the herbicide irsiducs. Fc.r incite act...male determination, further calibrations are needed.
