Description
Summary:Based on Surat Keputusan Gubernur DIY No. 201/KPTS/1993,the number of urban buses that should be operated are 368 buses and divided into 14 routes. But in fact the number of urban buses operated are 509 vehicles. This over fleet size made load factor in some routes become low, so urban bus operators happened lost. To solve the over fleet size problem, Government decided to reorganize the number of availible routes. At the early, the Government, as Regulator, proposed four aditional routes i.e 8, 13, 18 and 19. After new routes were introduced during three months, Operators did not agree with route 8 and route 13. They considered that the routes were not feasible. Finally Government ca Dinas Perhubungan Propinsi DIY agreed with Operators those the new urban bus routes operated were only route 18 and route 19. This research aimed to obtain operational performance of new urban bus routes. Data collection was carried out by doing on bus survey with three times data collecting on the each new route. The operational performance standard refered by researcher is peformance indicator which has been developed by World Bank 1986. Genarally new two routes operation have not yet been feasible. It could be known from value of its operating ratio (OR) i.e 0,22 for route 18 and 0,68 for route 19. Whereas the proper OR value based on standard is 1,05 up to 1,08. For route 19, Operators feel optimistic that this route will have a profitable prospect because it is the only route that open acces directly from Jombor Terminal to Malioboro Street. For route 18 Operators feel pesimistic because the route is not feasible to be gone on.
