Summary: | The purposes of this research were to find out actual road density and optimum road density (ORD) in the forest harvesting with specific skidding method, Double Skidding. Comparison was made, to evaluate economic feasibility of the method, based on total cost of double skidding with out branch road and skidding with branch road.
The data were collected from March 1, 1998 to April 28, 1998 in HPH PT. Dwimajaya Utama, Central Kalimantan. The data analyzed with Von Sagebaden formula, Break Even Point (BEP) method and Matthews formula to calculate total harvesting cost of two systems.
Analysis proved that actual road density (5,325 m/ Ha) less than ORD (12,05 rn/ Ha). Double skidding method wasn't effective and efficient. Road spacing was very high and needed branch road. Skidding with branch road reduced cost amount to Rp 1340,028/ m3.
