Description
Summary:The objectives of this paper are to present the impact of government policy that influencing prices of several foodcrop products and production factors on economic incentive structure of the industry, and comparative advantage of producing the food crops in Indonesia. The economic incentive structure is measured by nominal protection rate. While the comparative advantage of producing that cropps is measured by domestic resource cost. The nominal protection rates of paddy, mayze, groudnut and soybean cropps are positif, ranging from 10 percent to 60 percent. While cassava has zero nominal protection rate. The effective protection rate of all cropps studied are positif, ranging from 0.9 percent for cassava to 100.6 percent for soybean. The domestic resource cost of all cropps studied is less than the shadow exchange rate. It means that the country has comparative advantage of producing such cropps. However, if it is broken down into each location, there are regions that has no comparative advantage of producing certain commodities, such regions are Aceh for rice and West Java for soybean.
