Summary: | The research has aimed to determine the most suitable environment (light intensity) and the optimal rates of fertilizer for the growth and yield of Curcuma xanthorrhiza. The experiment was carried out at Agronomy experimental station, Faculty of Agriculture, Gadjah Mada University.
The data was analyzed using Completely Randomized Design, involving two factors and four levels. Each treatment was replicated three times. The first factor was shading, consisted of 90%, 60 %, 30 % and no shading. Fertilizer was the second factor, consisted of 150 %, 100 %, 50 % of recommended rate and no fertilizer.
The result showed no significant effect of fertilizer treatments. Meanwhile, the best shading for Curcuma was given by 60 % shading or 40 % light intensity. The highest of total dry weight, rhizome dry weight. plant height and leaf area were obtained by 60 % shading treatment.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui intensitas serta pemupukan yang optimal untuk pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman temulawak (Curcuma xanthorrhiza). Percobaan ini dilakukan di kebun percobaan Budidaya Pertanian, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas .Gadjah Mada.
Data dianalisis menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap meliputi dua faktor dan masing-masing faktor terdiri dari empat aras, masing-masing perlakuan diulang tiga kali. Faktor pertama adalah naungan terdiri dari 90 %. 60 %, 30 % serta tanpa naungan. Faktor kedua adalah pemupukan, terdiri dari 150 %, !00 %, 50 % dosis rekomendasi dan tanpa pemupukan.
Basil penelitian menunjukkan tidak ada beda nyata untuk perlakuan pemupukan. Naungan yang optimal untuk tanaman temulawak adalah sebesar 60 % atau intensitas sinar sebesar 40 % yang ditunjuklcan oleh berat kering total, berat kering rhizome, tinggi tanaman serta luas daun tertinggi.
