Description
Summary:The impact of electromagnetic field exposure on health is still controversial. Scientific evidence are very few. The aim of this research was to investigate the impact of electromagnetic field exposure on human leukocyte (quantity and quality). There were two groups of subject, 49 women who lived under electric power transmission lines and 54 women who lived in area far away from electric power transmission lines. This research applied a cross sectional design. Data of the subjects were collected by interview and examination, then analized by descriptive statistics and analysis of variance. The result showed that there was significant difference of the increasing leukocyte numbers (quantity) between exposed and unexposed group (p=0,000). There were also significant differences of leukocyte quality, especially the decreasing of neutrophil segment (p=0,000), the increasing of lymphocyte (p=0,000), and the decreasing of monocyte (p=0,001) between the two groups. Based on the result, there was negative impact of electromagnetic field exposure on human leukocyte (quantity and quality). Keywords : leukocyte human and electromagnetic field.
