Summary:ABSTRAK Geographic information systems are powerful tools for design. The systems can also be used to develope university information system. The development of this university information system can be done by combining graphical and attribute data. By using the university information system, users have possibilities to take the right universities easily. Objective of this research is to develop university information system. In the university information systent, we prepared information of universities including their locations, faculties, departments, etc. By using computer, digitizer and AutoCAD software, we digitized topographic map to be digital map. Based on the data of all universities, can he prepared attribute data. This attribute data can he arranged using Microsoft Excel software. The attribute data are completed with photographs of buildings of the university. All of the data were exported to Mapinfo software. in the next step, the digital map was combined with the attribute data, and we got the university information system. The final result of this research is the university information system, that is based on the geographic MP/maim? systems. The system can easily be used by users.
