Pertumubuhan dan Hasil Caisin Pada Berbagai warna Sungkup Plastik
ABSTRACT The research was to investigate the effects of convex plastic 'covers and its colours on growth and yield of mustard green (Brassica chinensis). The plants were grown under convex plastic covers (colours: red, green, blue, and colourless) and without convex plastic covers. The research...

The colourless convex plastic covers increased number of leaves, leaf area leaf area index, net assimilation rate, crop growth rate as well as fresh and dry weight of shoot and root. Whereas the red convex plastic covers increased plant height, leaf area, leaf area index, net assimilation rate, and fresh weight of shoot. The green and blue convex plastic covers provide less growth and yield than colourless and red convex plastic covers. From these results it we concluded that (1) The growth and yield of mustard greens under convex plastic covers were better than those of without convex plastic covers and (2) Colours of convex plastic covers which provided the best growth and yield mustard greens was colourless and red. ABSTRACT
The research was to investigate the effects of convex plastic 'covers and its colours on growth and yield of mustard green (Brassica chinensis). The plants were grown under convex plastic covers (colours: red, green, blue, and colourless) and without convex plastic covers. The research was conducted at Temanggal, Purwomartani village, Kalasan, Slenzan, Province of Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta, altitude 113 m on regosol soil from July to August 2003. The research was designed as Randomized Completely Block Design (RCBD) with 3 replications.
The results showed that growth and yield of mustard greens under convex plastic covers were better than those of without convex plastic covers. The usage of convex plastic covers increased plant height, leaf area leaf area index, shoot-root ratio, harvest index and fresh weight of shoot 2 months after planting. However convex plastic covers decreased net assimilation rate as well as fresh and dry weight of root. The results also showed that the colour of convex plastic covers had many various effects on growth and yield of mustard green.
