Summary:ABSTRACT Sixteen wheat varieties of various origins evaluated using a Randomized Complete Block with four replications in three locations which have different altitudes. Path analysis was done between yield and eight plant characters: seen number per spike, 1000 seed wight, panicle number per m2, plant height, extrusion length, flag leaf area, flowering and duration of grain filling. The results showed that the direct effects of seed numbers per spike and 1000 seed weight, and the indirect effects of the other plant characters were considerable, indicating that these components may be effectively used as selection criteria for high yield.
