Summary: | To minimize the production cost, the batch size of a batch production system has to be maintained based on a certain criterion, such as optimal control limit. The optimal batch size of the optimal control limit procedure is calculated using the expected continuously discounted cost. On the other hand, fuzzy logic has been successfully used on many applications and commercial products. The logic is capable to control and make decisions with smooth and gradual transition characteristics. In this paper, modeling and simulation of a batch production system that combine a fuzzy logic approach and the optimal control limit is proposed. The costumer data are used to produce the optimal batch size. Result shows that there is a possibility of applying this approach to an integrated production scheduling system.
