Description
Summary:Part of karst topography in the research area are built of keprus limestone. It has soft and friable characteristics. This material is used by many industries, especially by chemical industries. It has already been intesively exploited using a wrong mining system (dug, failed, and abandoned). This research was focused on successful abandoned mining locations in order to get a clue fore keprus limestone occurrence. The detected parameters finally gave some pictures as to keprus limestone occurrence. The parameters were not independent but dependent to each others dan their relationships could be a clue to keprus limestone occurrence. The occurrence of keprus limestone could be recognized by paying attentions to : hills having obtuse tops, gentle slopes, wide valley, smooth surfaces, massive, relatively rough rock surfaces, high porosity, clean white to gray colors, low-density joints, no dissolution-formed shapes, dolines around hills, karstification phenomena, except those previously stated, such as solution breccias, or traces of perched water table. The occurrence of keprus limestpne inkarst hillswas generated by intensive karstification processes so that the cap rocks were removed. Key words : keprus limestone, surface appearances, karstification.
