ABSTRACT The implementation of mix-planting with variety composition of trees and agricultural-crop is a kind of tradition to maximize soil utilization. This kind of mix-planting is said as agroforestry or community forest. The varieties or diversities of composition of the agroforestry depend on the knowledge and capability of the farmers. The objectives of this study were to know the stratification of community forest effort and to measure the growth-rate as well as its contribution to community life. The study was conducted in Pajangan Sub-District, Bantu! Regency, Yogyakarta Province. The study used proportional stratified sampling system. Measurement of stand parameters (the diameter and the height of the free-branches stem) were repeated every two years, there were from the year of 1998, 2000, 2002 until the year of 2004. The data obtained were analyzed with qualitative-descriptive method. The result of the study showed that the community forest in Pajangan Sub-District consists of three stratums that were C-1 comprised of 620.8 ha (19.73%), C2 comprised of 956.80 ha (30.42%), and C-3 comprised of 822 ha (26.13%).
