The managed care conÂ¬cept, which is implemented by PT (Persero) Asuransi Kesehatan Indonesia, had not been worked.well yet. It is indicated by providers behavior that does not support this program. Possibly, it is caused by lack of understanding about this program. This study was aimed to find out provider's knowledge and attitude toward this concept. -Method: ThiS was a descriptive analytic study using a cross sectional design, with 150 providers who work at private practices (family physicians) and community health centers (leaders of community health centers, general physicians, dentists, midwifes, and nurses) as the subject. Data were collected using questionnaire and in-depth interview. Results: About 75% of respondents had a good comprehension about managed care concept. Only 21,5% knew that they would get a financial risk in capitation payÂ¬ment. About 45% said that capitation for the next month will be reduced, if provider cannot manage the care. A sizeable majority (78,5%) endorsed managed care conÂ¬cept. It is indicated by the number of respondent who supported comprehensive care (58,4%), rational drug used (61,7%), utilization review (67,8%), and complaint handÂ¬ling (68,5%). However, provider wants to be involved in making decision that related to the implementation of managed care. Chi square test showed a significant relationÂ¬ship between the knowledge of managed care with type of provider, profession, and level of education. It also showed correlation between the attitude toward managed care with social health insurance training. Conclusion: Majority of provider endorsed the implementation of managed care conÂ¬cept, in spite of many providers did not know about this concept. It is necessary to give additional information about cost containment in managed care, and provider should be involved in making decision that related to the implementation of managed care.
