Perpustakaan UGM, i-lib Jurnal i-lib UGM ABSTRACT The purpose of this study is to determine the safety zone for the public settlement toward the site of explosion and fire dangerous of the fuel storage facility in Rewulu, Sedayu District, Bantul Regency, Special Province of Yogyakarta. The research assumed in catastrophic danger includes the pool fire for avtur, premium (gasoline), automotive diesel oil, and kerosene. Besides that, this research also investigates the vapor cloud fire, fireball, and premium tank explosion. Based on its storage condition and characteristic, the premium is potential to be BLEVE (Boiling Liquid Expanding Vapor Explosion). According to the guidelines of the International Atomic Energy Agency-TECDOC-994 about thermal radiation for human that could be tolerated is 1,2 kW/ m2, then the minimum safety distance for the danger of heat radiation caused by the pool fire on the fuel storage tanks in the Rewulu depot is 50 m, where the heat intensity on that distance is 0.81 kW/ m2. The vapor could fire at the lower flammability limit is--.410 meter and its direction depends on wind flow. The radius of the fireball on the premium's storage tank is 503 m and the safety distance of the danger caused by the fireball is 1850 meter with the heat intensity at that distance is 1,09 kW/ m2. The impact of explosion in the premium's storage tank may reach a range of 1100 until 2500 m, with the effect that 10% of building glas windows could be cracked.
