Description
Summary:Underground coal gasification is one of the insitu coal conversion technologies into synthetic gas (syngas) which is potential to displace petroleum and natural gas in the future. UCG technology was referred to as clean energy technologies, because the gas extraction process was conducted through insitu burn coal without excavation of overburden rock and coal seams in advance as is commonly done in conventional mining system. But in order for UCG can be accomplished, there are several requirements that must be met, which in the area that will do partial combustion should not be saturated with fluid (in this case is a layer on top of the coal). Because of the conditions that must be met above, resistivity method with Wenner configuration is the most appropriate method to analyze water saturated zone in the area of research. The existence of the fluid that fills the pores between the rocks under the surface can be determined based on the resistivity value character. From processing data using EarthImager can seen beneath the surface wherein fluid saturation zone on each track has an average resistivity values ranging from 3-18 Ωm with lithology in the form of alternating between sandstones and limestones from muaraenim formation (middle Palembang formation) which has age of Middle Miocene to end of Pliocene. To further strengthen the interpretation, resistivity data that has been processed is also correlated with coring every existing wells.
