The main parts of this component are outer race, inner race, and ball. The friction between the race and ball causes the wear of race ball bearing. The aim of the research is to find out the effect of ion implantation on the hardness and wear of the material of the ball bearing race. Hardness and wear test was done to the material of the ball bearing race without ion implantation and after implanted. The AIN implantation was done variying the 60, 90, 120 minutes time with energy constant is 100 ke V. Hardness test was done by using micro Vickers test instrument at identation load of 100 ke V. Wear value was achieved by variying load on wear machine test with axial load 50N and radial load 50N, axial load 50N and radial/oad lOON, and axial load JOON and radia//oad lOON. Wear was done variying time 3. 6, and 12 hours. The first of material in raceway in ball 864 VHN, inner race 828 VHN, and outer race 644 VHN, and after implanted hardness material in raceway in ball 1253 VHN, inner race 1225 VHN, and outer race 1253 VHN. The chemical composition of ball bearing race before the implantation is steel alloy with the main element for outer race, inner race and ball are high alloy steel and cage is medium alloy steel. After imp/anted the main element of AIN : 8, 02% Nand 0,54% AI. After implated wear rate become lower. Wear rate is higher from1,3x1(t9 mm3IN.m to1,2x1(t9 mm3IN.m in axial load 100 Nand radial load /00 N and wear rate is lower from 3 x1(tJlJ mm3/N.m to 2 x1(tJO mm3/N.m in axial load 50 N and radial load lOON.
