This research was conducted on Air Laya area where Plio-Pleistocene igneous intrusions have produce high rank coal (antracite) in different part of deposit. Research in the Air Laya area focus on seam coal B1 and B2 (Suban) with bright banded coal lithotype. Sample was taken from the strongest heat affected to 150 meters and 500 meters from intrusion. This research was conducted on 13 coal samples and 13 rock samples. Sample analysis through thin sections, polishing sections, XRD, ICP-AES, ICP-MS and proximate. Air Laya area has porphyry andesite intrusion with the 295.68 ppm of REE content. The highest REE content in coal found in samples within 150 meters from intrusion (136.68 ppm). The REE type of coal in Air Laya is dominated by LREE and its type of enrichment is H type. The enrichment of REE can be derived from other sediments whereas andesite intrusion does not affect the enrichment of REE.
