| Summary: | This study aims to analyse the factors that has caused the damage and the extinction of the cultural heritages in the city of Yogyakarta, among which are the constraints that arise in providing legal protection of cultural heritage objects and the concept of strong legal protection at the local government level. This study mainly oversees the weaknesses in the legal protection of cultural heritages in Yogyakarta. as it has resulted in lack of regulations protecting the status and surroundings of these heritages. Research results show that the legal protection towards cultural heritages in Yogyakarta remains weak.
