Description
Summary:In American tradition, debates between qualitative(Qual) and quantitative (Quant) methods has happened since 20th century and only recently there is new offer to methods called Mixed methods. This methods are treated as the third way to the unfinished debates on methods even they are embedded and paradigm argument which does not agree with this new methods. This article would like to show the relevance of mixed methods as one of methods in social science using the integrated paradigm and analytical level of George Ritzer, one of major American sociologist today. Although Ritzer itself never mentioned what methods that he used in his works, but this library research shows how mix methods and Ritzer’s theory find its relevance in triangulation technique and level of analysis which included macro-micro scope and subjective-objective dimension. The exemplars that are shown to prove this hypothesis are Ritzer’s works in Mcdonaldization of Society (1996). Tracing back in its philosophical roots, pragmatism seems become the main basis, especially its orientations on problem solving and how to answer the research questions. Keywords: mixed methods, triangulation, integrated paradigm, pragmatism
