Summary:Violent behaviors by adolescents become social problems increasing from year to year, also in Yogyakarta. To overcome this problem, it needs strategy based on the ecology, through peace education because only through education people can change his mindset. This study aims to analyze how non-governmental agencies doing peace education and how it affects, also examines how peace education can be an alternative to form a non-aggressive behavior in adolescents. By using qualitative methods, through interviews and observations, this research is done in 2 institutions, Sahabat Gloria (SG) and Anak Wayang Indonesia (AWI). SG conducts a character-based multicultural education through a collaboration with school. AWI makes a peace program for teenagers in the crowd village in Yogyakarta city, river side of Code, with the media arts and involving parents and village communities. Effect of peace education for adolescents analyze from institutions and adolescents themselves. For institutions, the influence of the atmosphere impact and for adolescents, they are able to mediate and think critically about prejudice. Effective peace education program then analyzed based on the process and what is done by both institututions meet all aspects of the analysis process. Peace education is carried out by non-governmental institutions have positive influence to form non-aggressive behavior. Based on the analysis, it contains three aspects, peace education materials, the process, and the role of facilitators. In addition, the adolescents themselves and support system of friends, parents, schools, and society, became another important aspect to form a nonaggressive behavior in adolescents.
