Von Willebrand factor plays an important role in the adhesion process of platelets and endothelial vascular. Increased level of von Willebrand factor indicates endothelial dysfunction. Monitored hematologic examination results (platelets, mean platelet volume, hematocrit and leucocytes) can reduce the risk of increased severity. The aim of this study is to determine whether there is a correlation between levels of von Willebrand factor with hematological parameters in DHF adult patients. This research is a cross sectional study. Subjects were adult dengue patients hospitalized in Internal Medicine ward RSUP Dr. Sardjito Yogyakarta recruited consecutively. Diagnosis and DHF criteria were established based on serological status of IgG/IgM antidengue and WHO 2005 criteria. Subjects characteristics were presented descriptively. Mean test and proportion test were performed on subjects characteristics categorized by research group. Pearson correlation was performed to see whether there were any correlation among levels of hematology vWF with parameters to all subjects of study. Normality of data distribution was determined by Kolmogorov Smirnov test. The result showed that vWF was significantly and negatively correlated (r = -0.368, p = 0.007) with platelets, significantly and positively correlated (r = 0.678, p = 0.0001) with the hematocrit, significantly positive correlated (r = 0.393, p = 0.004) with MPV, while in the leucocytes there was no significant correlation. There was a significant increase in the value of MPV, vWF and decreased platelet value in the more severe dengue, whereas hematocrit and leucocytes were not significant. On further analysis, the value vWF and platelets did not differ significantly from DHF I to DHF II, but vWF parameters increased significantly while platelet parameters decreased significantly in the DHF II to DHF III. vWF parameter values were more meaningful than the platelet parameters. It was concluded that vWF level correlated negatively with platelet coutn, correlated posivitely with hematocrit and MPV value but not correlated with white blood cell count. Dengue fever is still the leading cause of death in tropical countries,
including Indonesia. In DHF, vascular endothelial damage occurs so that the
permeability increases. Von Willebrand factor plays an important role in the
adhesion process of platelets and endothelial vascular. Increased level of von

This research is a cross sectional study. Subjects were adult dengue

recruited consecutively. Diagnosis and DHF criteria were established based on

The result showed that vWF was significantly and negatively correlated
