Summary:Potentiating the effect of intrathecal local anesthetics by addition of intrathecalopiods for spinal anesthesia is known. In this study by addition of fentanyl to minimize the dose of bupivacaine, thereby improve duration of sensoric block and early recovery from motoric block. The objectives is to compare duration of sensoric and motoric block effect of hyperbaric Bupivacaine 0,5% 10 mg with adjuvant Fentanyl 25μg compare with Bupivacaine 0,5% 12,5 mg, using clinical prospective randomized double blind controlled trial. Subjects are male and female patients undergoing for elective surgery under Subarachnoid Block in the Center of Surgery Building (GBST) Dr. Sardjito Hospital Yogyakarta. Subjects is 66 patients, male or female, 18-64 years old, weight 40-70 kg, height 150-170cm, ASA physical status class I or II, and duration of all surgical procedures estimated will not exceed 90 minutes. Subjects will randomly allocated into two groups,each group consists of 33 patients. Group A will receive hyperbaric Bupivacaine 0,5% 10 mg with adjuvant Fentanyl 12,5μg and Group B will receive hyperbaric Bupivacaine 0,5% 12,5 mg without opioid. Time of onset and duration of spinal nerve block is measured, level of sensoric with pinprick and motoric block with Bromage score.
