The study of the implementation of Islamic inheritance law of property inheriting at Minangkabau society in Lintau Buo Utara subdistrict of Tanah Datar aimed at examining the implementation of the implementation of Islamic inheritance law of property inheriting at Minangkabau society in Lintau Buo Utara subdistrict of Tanah Datar , the obstacles in implementing the Islamic inheritance law of property inheriting at Minangkabau society in Lintau Buo Utara subdistrict of Tanah Datar and the solution to overcome the obstacles. It used the empiric juridical approach of socio-legal or nondoctrinal research. It was an activity to collect empirical data using scientific method that systematically combined deductive and inductive ways of thinking. The primary data collection technique was used in in-field study with direct communication following interview guidance. The interviews were of unstructured one and focused one. Literature study was conducted to collect secondary data using documentary study technique with the instrument of written materials, while the subject of the study consisted of 3 basic informants, 5 core informants and 8 ordinary informants. Based on the results of the study it was concluded that the implementation of the Islamic inheritance law of property inheriting at Minangkabau society in Lintau Buo Utara subdistrict of Tanah Datar has not been effective as clearly observed in the property indication, inheriting subjects, inheriting process and the inheriting share of each of heirs, customary inheritance law that was still in effect, and the property that was divided on Islamic law was collected over time and it was incompletely implemented. The obstacles in the implementation of Islamic inheritance law of property inheriting at Miangkabau society in Lintau Buo Utara subdistrict of Tanah Datar District were the presence of the domination of the customary inheritance law, the Islamic inheritance law has not been well-understood by the society were the causal factors of the ignorance of the society of the Islamic inheritance law, and also there was still a mixture of high and low heirloom and the property that was collected overtime.
