Summary: | Tilt casting is a process where molten metal inside a pouring cup that attached to mould being tilted so that the molten metal flows into the mould cavity, let the molten metal freeze, then open the mould to take the casting product. Mould tilting speed can be varied using an inverter and it continually moving because it is moved by an AC electric motor.
The aims of this research are (a) to design, manufacture, and test the tilt casting machine, (b) to study the effect of pouring temperature, mould temperature, and mould tilt speed on the casting soundness, Brinell hardness, tensile stress, and wear rate of Aluminium Die Casting consist 9,6-12% Silikon (ADC 12) casting alloy.
Tilt casting machine was tested until all indicators are functioning, then ADC 12 casting process being carried out. The casting process was carried out by varying several variable, such as pouring temperature of 790 |
