Summary:Nasopharynx cancer is often happened in China and South-East Asia. In Indonesia, especially in south region of Central Java, undifferentiated carcinoma is the most often cancer type of head and neck and 5th most prevalence type of cancer as a whole. In Yogyakarta province, hospital-based data show nasopharynx cancer as number one cancer for male and number 3 for female. Mucositis is an inflammation and irritation of digestive mucous membrane as the effect of damage in basal cell squamous epithelial proliferation system. It can arises from radiotherapy and chemotherapy which is cytotoxic. Typical sigh related to mucositis is pain and difficulty swallowing, eating and drinking and also trouble in ability to speaking and communicating. Mucositis give impact to quality of treatment and life. In recent time, there is no data showing the relation between the degrees of mucositis with the degradation of quality of life at nasopharynx cancer patient experiencing concurrent chemoradiation therapy (CCRT). The objective of this study is to know the difference average of degradation in quality of life for each degree of mucositis at nasopharynx cancer patients with standard therapy The subjects of this study are all nasopharynx cancer patients who receiving CCRT from Yogyakarta and surrounding area in Internal Ward and Tulip Cancer Center, Sardjito General Hospital Yogyakarta during the month of January 2011 up to December 2011 who fulfilling the inclusion criteria. Subjects were noted their age and gender, is there any mucositis and its degree, their body weight, hemoglobin. After that they have to fill the Indonesian version FACT H&N questioner before starting the CCRT, after third cycle and by the end of CCRT. This study is a time series. Statistical analysis which done is to look for the difference average of degradation in quality of life between each degree of mucositis using Anova test. Accepted significance if p < 0,05
