Geographically, the study area lies between 111°30�00� to 111°32�45� east longitude and 08°14�19� to 08°17�00 south latitude. The step of the research which is including the investigation of research area and collecting sample of rocks, which will be analyzed using petrographic, XRD and XRF. Generally, the research area is in the middle-step slope hills, with elevation between 300 � 900 meters above sea level. The geology of the area is arranged by formation volcanic rocks � volcanoclastic which can be aligned with Mandalika Formation with Oligo � Miocene aged, the group of crystalline limestones that can be aligned with Jaten Formation, and the Campurdarat Formation � Miocen aged. The geological structures that develop in this area is the fault structure with the general direction of northwest � southeast and northeast � southwest. The layer of iron with can be found generally to insert in the group of volcanic rocks � volcanoclastic. In Watuagung and Bakalan territory, found iron ore outcrops which layered with thickness of 10 � 50 cm / layered. Layer of iron ore dominated by magnetite � hematite with a little of pyrite. From the results of chemical analysis toward some iron ore sample show that the total Fe content is 49,0 � 53,56%. The presence of iron ore deposits is a new phenomenon which is the first time discovered in Indonesia, which the deposits type as sedimentary deposits that formed in shallow marine environment.
