Description
Summary:Background: Infection with HIV is an immune system disorder that causes disturbances in the infected human body systems, including nervous system disorders. CD4 T-lymphocytes regulate the human immune system, thus the number tends to decline in HIV infection.Complications of cognitive impairment occurs in 30-50% of individuals infected with HIV. Primitive reflex associated with cognitive impairment, including dementia. Objectives: To determine the number of CD4 to determine the relationship of primitive reflexes in individuals infected with the HIV virus. Methods: This study used cross-sectional study design (cross-sectional). Population studies are all HIV positive patients who had CD4 numbers are still undergoing treatment at RSUP Dr. Sardjito and the eligibilitas criteria of sampling by consecutive sampling. Primitive reflexes were examined in the form of Glabella reflex, snout reflex, Palmomental reflex, Graps reflex, reflex Suck, Babinsky reflex, Rossolimo reflex, and Nuchocephalic reflex. Assessment of cognitive impairment using the MMSE test. Results: The study found 96 people living with HIV. Data Analysis 66(68.75%) male, female 30(31.25%). Highest average age at 31.30(SD ± 6.54) years. Highest percentage of education level high school educated 45(46.87%). Figures obtained a mean CD4 cell count 215.52(SD±195.63). Primitive reflexes were examined as eight kinds of primitive reflexes obtained averages of 2.72(SD± 1.62%). Spearman's correlation test showed a correlation between the number of CD4 with primitive reflex is meaningful.Correlation value of -0.444 indicates the direction of a negative correlation with the strength of the correlation is. Conclusion: Based on this study there is significant correlation between the number of CD4 with primitive reflexes in patients with HIV who were treated at the clinic of Edelweis RSUP Dr. Sardjito with the strength and direction of the correlation is negative, so the lower the CD4 cell numbers, the more primitive reflexes were found.
