Summary:Surfactant (surface active agent) is a chemicals which can decrease an interfacial tension of two liquid phases. One example is Sodium Ligno Sulfonate which is (SLS) useful to enhance oil recovery in oil refinery industry. However, the content of Sodium Bisulfate in Sodium Ligno Sulfonate can reduce the performance Sodium Ligno Sulfonate. One of the ways to to improve the performance of Sodium Lignosulfonat modify with Oleyl Amin and Formaldehyde. This process is known as Amino Alkylation Process. The purpose of this research is to study the reaction kinetics and the influence of Oleyl Amin concentration and the addition of Formaldehyde. Amino Alkylation Process is conducted in strirred �batch� reactor. Amino Alkylation Process is done by varying concentration of Oleyl Amin (10%, 20%, 30% and 40%), the addition of Formaldehyde (15 ml, 25ml, 35ml and 45ml) and reaction time (1,2,3 and 4 hours). Referring to the research results can be shown that the reaction kinetic is controlled by chemical reaction using a model of liquid-liquid reaction of both Sodium Ligno Sulfonate and Oleyl Amin. The highest conversion of Amino Alkylation Process is 0.899 on the condition of Oleyl Amin 10%, Formaldehyde 25 ml, temperature of 500C and reaction time of 4 hours. The suitable model for this research is level two irreversible reactions (trimoleculer). The value of interfacial tension Amino Alkylation Process at 0.191 Mn / m.
