Despite its popularity, the material is far from ideal in fulfilling the mechanical requirements of such appliances. One of the consideration to resolve this problem is added polyethylene fibers and silane as a coupling agent. The purpose of this research is to determine whether adding a polyethylene fiber and silane as a coupling agent will influence transverse strength of acrylic resins denture repairs. The experiment involved forty plates of heat cured acrylic resin with dimension 65x10x2.5 mm. All subjects were then stored in distilled water for two days at 37�C temperature, after which the subjects were prepared to create a 3 mm gap and 45� bevel. Every subjects were divided into 4 groups which contain 10 subjects. Group I (control) consisted of ten subjects with no polyethylene fibers and silane added, group II consisted of ten subjects with added silane, group III consisted of ten subjects with added polyethylene fibers while group IV consisted of ten subjects with added polyethylene fibers and silane. All subjects were tested for transverse strength and all data obtained was analyzed with one way anova at 95% confidence level (α=0.05). Research shows that the one way ANOVA of transverse strength for repair group which added with polyethylene fiber and silane had a significant difference (p<0.05) than the repair group which added with silane or polyethylene fiber or without both polyethylene fiber and silane. The research concludes that transverse strength in acrylic resins denture repairs can be improved by adding polyethylene fibers and silane as a coupling agent.
