Description
Summary:This study aims to determine the effect of intra row spacing and the proportion of inorganic nitrogen and compost nitrogen on the growth of weeds and yield of wheat. Its also determine the right combination intra row spacing and the proportion of inorganic nitrogen and compost nitrogen that gives the highest wheat grain yield and the lowest weed weight. The research was conducted in the Sirapu Village, Semangga District, Merauke Regency, Papua from September to December2010. The experiment design used was 3 x 6 in Randomized Complete Block Design with 3 blocks as replication. The first factor was intra row spacing consists of three level, i.e., 25 cm x 10 cm, 25 cm x 15 cm, 25 cm x 20 cm. The second factor was proportion of inorganic nitrogen and compost nitrogen consists of six levels, i.e., compost 0% + urea 0%, 0% compost + 100% urea, 25% compost +75% urea, 50% compost + 50% urea, 75% compost + 25% urea, 100% compost + 0%. Control has of two levels, i,e., weed control manually and without weed control. The data was analyzed using F test and if significant continued using DMRT at 5% significant level. The experiment results showed that there was interaction between intra row spacing and the proportion of inorganic nitrogen and compost nitrogen on all yield components. Narrower intra row spacing from 15 cm to 10 cm and wider intra row spacing from 15 cm to 20 cm was not alter the composition of weeds. On the other hand, wider intra row spacing from 10 to 20 cm was changed the composition of weed. Intra row spacing of 25 cm x 15 cm and 75% urea + 25% compost gave the highest yield and reduced weed dry weight at 21 and 35 DAP.
