Summary:Surgical Site Infection that be part from nosocomial infection belong one of the well-being serious problem at hospital. Beside impact medic shaped height morbidity and disease mortality, nosocomial infection give big cost impact in well-being service system. Patient that endure surgery has high risk experiences Surgical Site Infection. Election antibiotic prophylaxis correct in surgery action very determine success in prevent the happening of surgical site infection. This research aims to detect surgical site infection insident number and evaluate use appropriate antibiotic prophylaxis in surgical site infection prevention that given in pediatric surgery patient at RSUP Dr. Sardjito Yogyakarta. This research type is observasional with analytic descriptive study plan passes data collected that done according to prospective with do clinical observation in pediatric patient that experiences surgery action during August - October 2008. Analysis and evaluation data shaped use pattern description antibiotic prophylaxis and Surgical Site Infection insident number with connection between use antibiotic prophylaxis with Surgical Site Infection insident. Result obtained in this research show that insident number of surgical site infection in surgery action consequence is 3 cases (7,14%) from full scale 42 child operation cases. Percentage of appropriate antibiotic prophylaxis towards surgical site infection insident is reviewed from kind appropriate aspect antibiotic is 35,72%, dose appropriate aspect is 92,86%, gift route appropriate aspect is 92,86%, gift time appropriate aspect is 52,38% and from gift interval appropriate aspect is 57,14%.
