Summary:Children, as part of city inhabitant, have rights and needs to be fulfilled. One of the rights and needs is playing in outdoor setting. However, rapid development occurred in a city sometimes creates a very dense settlement with limited space available for children to play. Hence, children's rights and needs of space for play activities become marginalized by the activities undertaken by adults. Based on that, the purpose of this research is to explore how children�s need of play is being accommodated in an urban kampong � which represents dense settlement � in Yogyakarta City, Indonesia.
