Background: Smoking is a behavior that negatively affects health, not just for smokers but also for the people around them. A smoke-free area plays an important role to reduce risks for passive smokers, and help teens beat the tobacco trap. Support to policy regarding smoke-free area is important to instill a sense of belonging and instill awareness resulting in behavioral change. Objective: To find out the description of the stakeholder�s support for a smoke-free area in Health Polytechnic Integrated Campus, Ministry of Health, Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam. Methods: This study was a qualitative research using a case study approach. Respondents was chosen purposively . Data collection method used observation, focus group discussions (FGD), and in-depth interviews. The analysis used was content analysis. Results: The number of smokers on campus was still quite high. The number of lecturers who smoked, exposure to advertising, no regulation, easy access to cigarettes, the perception of the tobacco industry, culture and peer smokers contributed to student�s smoking behavior. In general, the stakeholders supported the implementation of policies regarding smoke-free area on campus. Non-smokers were more supportive to the policies regarding smoke-free area on campus than smokers. Smoke-free area policy implementation at the campus could reduce secondhand smoke and help overcome the problem of smoking. Conclusion: Smoking behavior affected supports for smoke-free area policies on campus. As an educational institution that educates prospective health providers, no smoking policy can be implemented as the first step in tackling the problem of smoking.
