Summary: | Background: The result of preliminary study shows that morbidity rate of
hypertension at Talaga Health Center belongs to ten major diseases at the
prevalence of 6.07% in 2009. Yet, efforts of health promotion to counter
the problem have never been made. One of the media that can be used to
promote health is poster. Poster media that is specific and relevant with
the problem of hypertension has not been released. Therefore it is
necessary to design poster media related to hypertension and evaluate it.
Objective: To study interest and understanding of patients of Talaga
Health Center in hypertension poster media in aspect of design, message
and place of posting.
Method: The study was descriptive with qualitative method and
phenomenological design. Subject of the study were patients of Talaga
Health Center. Informant included the staff of health promotion, the head
of health center, and the head of health promotion section District of
Majalengka. Data were obtained through document study, focus group
discussion, in depth interview and observation.
Result: Poster was accepted as media of health promotion by patients of
health center. The interest of the patients in hypertension poster was due
to use of bright color, with combination of green, yellow and red colours,
readable font size with a simple font, pictures relevant with daily issues,
simple layout, simple message, and appropriate place for posting.
Understanding of the patient was reflected from how they understood the
objective and benefit of the message. Patients could easily catch the
message through pictures, simple words and sentences, use of daily
expression, bright color and strategic posting. Place of posting could be at
the waiting room, nursing room and village information board.
Conclusion: Overall patients were interested in and could understand
hypertension poster. Hypertension poster Sundanese version accepted as
a medium for health promotion by health visitors center of Talaga, who
have interests in design and content of the message in the hypertension
poster. |
