Summary: | <p>The soft textured corn silk (Zea mays-Maydis stigma) is a well-organized collection of stigmas of the corn maize that is widely used in traditional medicinal system. In modern medicine, it has been used as a mild diuretic, urinary demulcent and for the management of bladder irritation due to uric acid and phosphatic gravel. The goal of this study is to characterize the external morphology and identify trace minerals present by using VPSEM and EDX simultaneously with the aim of getting more accurate information for the development of future products. Innovative products source of trace element and effective anti-diabetic powder of this Maydis stigma can be further explored. Corn silk xylem vessels, which carry water through the plant, viewed in longitudinal section show different patterns of thickening of the outer wall of the vessel. The soft tiny protuberances&rsquo |
