The acid concentrations were varied in 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 M and the acid treatment was also varied under reflux times of 30, 60, and 120 min. The characterization of zeolite samples included dealumination, decationization of Na, acidity and crystallinity was analyzed by Infra Red Spectroscopy (FT-IR), Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS), gravimetric method using ammonia vapour, X-ray difraction (XRD), respectively. The results showed that the acid treatments towards the natural zeolite from Klaten caused dealumination that indicated by the increase of Si/Al ratio, qualitatively. The acid treatment at concentration of 5 M and reflux time of 120 min. caused decationization of Na up to 37.2% and increased the natural zeolite crystallinity. The acid treatment at concentration of 1 M and reflux time of 30 min increased the natural zeolite acidity up to 77.4%. The highest and lowest acidy was 9.75 and 5.50 mmol/g indicated by the Z0 and Z1-0.5 sample.
