Hydroxyapatite is widely used as a bone graft to repair bone damage in the field of dentistry and orthopedics. HA material gives insufficient radiographic appearances, therefore it causes problems in monitoring of bone formation after surgery, implant monitoring, and diagnosis of implant failure. Zirconia (Zr02) was added to the bone filler material to enhance radiopacity that can be shown through the X-ray imaging The purpose of this study was to determine the radiopacity effect of the addition zirconia to hydroxyapatite.<br /> The main material of this study are: HAthat synthesized from Calcite (PT Omya, Mojokerto, Surabaya) and 3 mol% yttrium-oxide partially stabilized zirconia (Y-PSZ). Research subjects are 24 cylindrical zirconia hydroxyapatite composite that divided into 4 groups (HA+ zirconla 0%, 30%, 40%, and 50%).
