Summary:The need for market in a city is essential in meeting the needs of the population. In 2006, the Government of West Bangka Regency built traditional markets to relocate the old market. The objective of this study is to identify impacts arising from new market shift towards surrounding area and to identify factors that influence spatial effects, with Muntok traditional market as locus. The research was conducted using qualitative and deductive methods and data collection was conducted by secondary survey, observation, and interviews with the research variabels of the study are physical and economy. The research showed that the displacement site of Muntok markets have impacts for instance: increasing the number, function, and density of building inside and outside the market place, change in visitor mileage, decrease air quality, development of economic activity around the market, flood prone locations around the market and the increasing acceptance market levies. The factors that influence the occurrence these impacts are the availability of new vast market area, there is no bridge for vehicle that connects new markets with the old market, deviations from the implementation RDTR Muntok City, and drainage channels that markets do not function properly. This study recommends that the Government of West Bangka Regency should construct bridge that connects the old market with new markets, create water disposal channels especially residential which is lower than the market toward the river, and conduct reforestation and dredge in Muntok river, conduct reforestation around the coastal beaches and residential areas, and improve drainage in the market.
