Summary: | The need for market in a city is essential in meeting the needs of the
population. In 2006, the Government of West Bangka Regency built traditional
markets to relocate the old market. The objective of this study is to identify
impacts arising from new market shift towards surrounding area and to identify
factors that influence spatial effects, with Muntok traditional market as locus. The
research was conducted using qualitative and deductive methods and data
collection was conducted by secondary survey, observation, and interviews with
the research variabels of the study are physical and economy.
The research showed that the displacement site of Muntok markets have
impacts for instance: increasing the number, function, and density of building
inside and outside the market place, change in visitor mileage, decrease air
quality, development of economic activity around the market, flood prone
locations around the market and the increasing acceptance market levies. The
factors that influence the occurrence these impacts are the availability of new vast
market area, there is no bridge for vehicle that connects new markets with the old
market, deviations from the implementation RDTR Muntok City, and drainage
channels that markets do not function properly.

should construct bridge that connects the old market with new markets, create
water disposal channels especially residential which is lower than the market
toward the river, and conduct reforestation and dredge in Muntok river, conduct
reforestation around the coastal beaches and residential areas, and improve
drainage in the market. |
